MP Congress MLA booked for raping, mentally harassing woman

The Congress MLA from Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district has been booked for allegedly raping and mentally harassing a woman.

By Hemender Sharma: The Congress MLA from Madhya Pradesh’s Kukshi in Dhar district, Umang Singhar, has been booked for allegedly raping and mentally harassing a woman from Jabalpur.

A case has been registered against the Congress party’s tribal face at the Naugaon police station.

According to news agency ANI, an FIR had been registered against Congress MLA Umang Singhar at Naugaon police station in Dhar for allegedly raping and mentally harassing a woman. A case was registered under Section 376 (rape), 377 (unnatural offences) and 498 (enticing/taking away/detaining with criminal intent a married woman) of the Indian Penal Code.

Singhar represents the Gandhwani constituency in the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly for the Indian National Congress. He was the former forest minister of the state from 2019-2020. He is known for his connection with the tribal community.
