In an incident that has raised concern, a leopard entered a residential in the Nashik district’s Mungsare village on Sunday night and attacked a pet dog. CCTV footage of the incident, shared by news agency ANI, shows the wild animal entering the residential area as a black dog – wearing a red collar – jumps in surprise and tries to confront it.

The leopard attacks the dog. In the footage, the leopard could be seen running away after confronting the barking dog. Though the video is not very clear, it seems the wild animal is taking away the dog in its jaws in chilling visuals.

The video has more than 65,400 views on Twitter with reactions from users raising concern. Speaking to ANI, Pankaj Garg the deputy conservator of forest, Nashik appealed to locals to “remain indoors at night as leopard activity had increased in the area”. “People must remain alert,” Garg added.

This is not the first time that leopards have entered residential areas in Nashik. In March, a 55-year-old woman was killed after being attacked by a leopard in the Igatpuri Taluka area, which is a wildlife corridor in the district.
